All divisions operate under the "and under" system, where teams may have players from the age group below it.

Shetland (ages 4-6)

Introductory level using a pitching machine with 50-foot bases. Games are 5-innings There is an All- Star Tournament at the regional level in spring. 


High Desert Pony League is offering FREE registration to the Shetland players to sign up for the Spring 2013 Season!

Pinto (ages 6-8)

This is a kid-pitch division, from 38 feet, on a 50-foot diamond.  An All- Star Tournament is offered at the regional level each spring season. The focus of ths division is basic fundamentals of baseball.

Mustang (ages 8-10)

This division begins a player's training in the complete game of baseball.  Pitchers pitch from 44 feet and play is conducted on a 60-foot diamond.  All-Star Tournament play is completed through the World Series level in the spring/summer.

Bronco (ages 10-12)

Developing players are taken into the full game of baseball in this division, with no restrictions on base stealing.  Pitchers pitch from 48 feet and play is conducted on a 70-foot diamond.  Tournament play is completed through the World Series level in the spring/summer.

Pony (ages 12-14)

This division continues to take the developing player into the full game of baseball.  Pitchers pitch from 54 feet and play is held on a 80-foot diamond. Tournament play is completed through the World Series level in the spring/summer.

Bats & Equipment

  • Effective January 1, 2012, all newly manufactured non-wood bats must be stamped “approved for play in PONY Baseball” and stamped with “BPF 1.15” and the year manufactured.
  • 2 3/4” bats are prohibited in all PONY sanctioned organization leagues.
  • Metal cleated baseball shoes, rubber soled or rubber cleated shoes are permitted.
